With no little help from your friends...

i got a bit annoyed recently: i asked my fellow phd students if we should set up some kind of mailing list or newsgroup where we could exchange papers and parts we have written and others could comment on it. the point behind is that one can get easily lost while writing and doesnt quite know anymore whether the argument is clear enough or really an argument. i think its really helpful to get comments by people from the same subject. also sometimes its more than advantageous to have another perspective and get some new input. however, i got around 3 answers (out of 10 possible or so). one was 'yes, i like the idea as well...', one was just 'yeah.', and the third was 'yeah, yeah... but picnic is closer to my pitch'. so the end of story was that nobody really replied to my question. and i cant be bothered to set up the whole thing and keep it running with just my own effort. i have other things to do. and it is annoying if there is an idea and nobody really even cares to reply to say no, i dont want.
then the other thing is that there were great plans by others to have bbq. they were talking about it for almost a week. and sent out invitation. the end of this story was that i ended up with one person for the drink and the others didnt even turned up to cancel the come-together. and he was just there because he had to wait for someone. quite a waste of time, waiting for others who invite and dont come in the end. and yeah, the bbq never happened. shame. not even the idea came up again. and i screwed my own birthday.

the thing is that it is sometimes quite annoying if you ask people something and they dont even care to reply and say no. doesnt take long and would be easy. hm, i think i went upset now. sorry. it didnt just happened for the first time. its a continuing pattern. today again.
